NCAA Wrestling Championships 2010 Results

The University of Iowa’s wrestlers have taken the lead in the NCAA Wrestling Competition with 34.5 points, advancing eight student-athletes to next round. These eight qualified athletes will play quarterfinals on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Qwest Center in Omaha, NE. Last day, they rocked the competition by winning 18 fights out of 20. Iowa is the only team whose wrestlers won maximum fights. With 26 points and 5 quarterfinalists, Oklahoma State is at 2nd place while Iowa State was declared the owner for third position who had 24 points with five quarter-finalists.

The following 8 wrestlers of Iowa team won their second round matches and got qualification for quarterfinals. These wrestlers are: Daniel Dennis (133), Brent Metcalf (149), Ryan Morningstar (165), Jay Borschel (174), Phillip Keddy (184) and Dan Erekson (Hwt.), Montell Marion (141) and Matt McDonough (125). The only Iowan player who got defeat was junior Jake Kerr who was defeated by No.1 seed J.P. O’Connor of Harvard at 157 with scores 8-1.

Definitely, Head Coach is very happy. Tom Brands said that they had a very good round that day and then the key was to keep the intensity up and keep improving with every match.They are favored in five of their eight quarterfinal matches on Friday and he is confident that they will easily win those five matches.
