Davy Crockett star Fess Parker dies
Fess Parker, the Hollywood actor who found fame in the Disney classics Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone died yesterday of natural causes. He was 85.
Family spokeswoman Sao Anash said Parker, who was later a major California winemaker and property developer, died at his home in Santa Ynez Valley. His death came on the 84th birthday of his wife of 50 years, Marcella.
Parker was coherent and speaking with family just minutes before his death, said Anash.
"Fess Parker has been a role model and idol of mine since I first saw him on the big screen — he is a true Hollywood legend," said Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Governor of California and former Hollywood star in a statement.
"As a talented actor and successful businessman, he was an inspirational Californian whose contributions to our state will be remembered forever."

Every time B.J. Holmes has had to play the point for Texas A&M, he's responded well. Yet media members always ask him the same thing afterward: How difficult was it?
After playing 36 minutes at point guard against Kansas in the Big 12 semifinals, Holmes had to admit it was plenty difficult -- at least that time out.
"Thirty-six minutes at the point I'm not used to, so that was eye-opening," Holmes said. "Physically, they are pressuring you the whole time at the point, and guarding Sherron [Collins] is not an easy task."
Holmes will take every minute he can get. Just three weeks ago he thought he had broken his foot when Texas' J'Covan Brown charged into him, and they both went crashing to the floor late in A&M's 74-58 victory at Reed Arena.
"I don't take anything for granted," Holmes said. "Every time I play it's like it's my last game. I'm glad it's not broken. It was a blessing to me, and I'm going to play harder every game. That's the way I go in looking at it."
While Dash Harris is A&M's starting point guard, Holmes has gained the confidence of A&M head coach Mark Turgeon, who isn't afraid to use Holmes when neeeded.
"I thought he was phenomenal against Kansas," Turgeon said. "B.J. did a great job of guarding [Collins] and running the team. Two years ago I couldn't hardly play B.J. at the point, which shows how far he's come."
What really happened
In the Big 12 tournament loss to Kansas, Turgeon appeared to be saying something to Collins during a skirmish that occurred when both teams were walking to their benches during a timeout.
Turgeon on Monday assured everyone he was yelling at the official to break up what was going on, that the official was allowing the skirmish to happen and if he'd have done his job there wouldn't have had to be a double technical.
"They had the same problem the night before in the Texas-Baylor game," Turgeon said. "I would never say anything to another player, no matter how heated the moment is. Even if they said something to me, I'd walk down to the coach and say something to him but not to the player."
Too young to know what's going on
Freshman Khris Middleton said he was teased for being so calm while the Aggies watched the NCAA tournament selection show Sunday.
"It was real fun," he said. "I thought I'd be nervous, but I was just watching TV. It was easy knowing we'd be in the tournament."
Sophomore point guard Dash Harris said the freshman will learn what it means Friday when he takes the court.
"They don't really notice it yet," Harris said. "Selection Sunday, our hearts were racing to see where we're playing and who we're playing. I'm excited about it. I can't wait knowing how we lost last year. I don't want to experience that again."
A&M won its opener against BYU last season but was never in its second-round game against No. 1 seed Connecticut, losing 92-66.

NCAA Wrestling Championships 2010 Results
The University of Iowa’s wrestlers have taken the lead in the NCAA Wrestling Competition with 34.5 points, advancing eight student-athletes to next round. These eight qualified athletes will play quarterfinals on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Qwest Center in Omaha, NE. Last day, they rocked the competition by winning 18 fights out of 20. Iowa is the only team whose wrestlers won maximum fights. With 26 points and 5 quarterfinalists, Oklahoma State is at 2nd place while Iowa State was declared the owner for third position who had 24 points with five quarter-finalists.
The following 8 wrestlers of Iowa team won their second round matches and got qualification for quarterfinals. These wrestlers are: Daniel Dennis (133), Brent Metcalf (149), Ryan Morningstar (165), Jay Borschel (174), Phillip Keddy (184) and Dan Erekson (Hwt.), Montell Marion (141) and Matt McDonough (125). 2010 NCAA March Madness Bracket Update
NCAA bracket update, March madness 2010 brackets & NCAA mens basketball bracket 2010. The early lines are out for Day 3 of the NCAA Tournament, so despite a not-so-wonderful Day 1, I'll keep fighting along to see how I do for all 63 games:
Day 1 performance: 8-7-1
Saint Mary's (+5) over Villanova: It's hard to bet on Villanova after how bad they've looked the past few weeks. That game against Robert Morris wasn't that big of a fluke when you consider Villanova's recent performances. And not on did Saint Mary's look excellent against Richmond, but their best player (Omar Samhan) was a beast inside. And if there's one thing Villanova can't deal with, it's a big man who can score in the post and who can protect the rim on defense. This is basically a toss-up game, in my opinion, so I'll take the points.
Tennessee (-8) over Ohio: Ohio had what might have been the greatest performance in school history against Georgetown. They're a good team, but they'll never shoot like that again. And Tennessee survived a very tough San Diego State team. This game could end up being something of a romp.
Old Dominion (+5) over Baylor: If this were a pick'em I'd take Baylor, but I'm a little nervous about how Baylor played against Sam Houston State. And one thing to consider is that Baylor is a pretty poor rebounding team, and we all know how Old Dominion can get after the offensive boards. I'd probably lay off this bet altogether, but both Sagarin and Pomeroy think this line is a little bit too high, and I agree.
Wake Forest (+9) over Kentucky: I fully expect Kentucky to win this game, but I could see Wake Forest giving Kentucky a lot of trouble. They're athletic enough to hang with Kentucky, and they've got some big bodies who could knock DeMarcus Cousins out of the game with foul trouble. And you have to wonder how Kentucky will choose to handle Ishmael Smith, who absolutely torched Texas. You have to think that maye Kentucky will try to keep John Wall away from him to keep him rested for the offensive end? Considering how close everything went on Day 1, I'm going to take a point spread this high unless I think there's just a huge gap in talent.

But all eyes will be on Tiger Woods and the effect he will have on both television ratings (viewership) and betting.

2010 NCAA Bracket Predictions

They always foul or don't foul when they're supposed to. They always know when they're supposed to trap. They never make a stupid pass. And execution is so important in the NCAA tournament.
One last thing to keep in mind is to not overdo it with worrying about Kansas's region. I made this mistake last season when I correctly nailed the Michigan State vs UConn Final Four game. In a vacuum, with that match-up in Detroit, I liked Michigan State to win that game.

Recently, another earthquake hit the Earth’s surface, now in Los Angeles. Earthquake Los Angeles hit the city at 4:00 am where everyone was busy sleeping and resting. Earthquake Los Angeles was a 4.4-magnitude earthquake that trembled the whole city. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Pico Rivera. Luckily, the area where many people lives (not work) was 11 miles away from the epicenter.
Officials said that it was a 4.4-magnitude earthquake but didn’t cause a lot of damage. They also said that Los Angeles County Fire Department’ infrastructures and buildings were tough enough to bear such earthquakes. Earthquake Los Angeles really got our attention but everyone around the world was glad that it caused only minor damages. Unlike other earthquakes like in Haiti and Chile, reports said that theLos Angeles County Fire Department were surveying the area for possible injured civilian and still, no casualties reported.

2010 CBI Tournament Invitational Schedule
The 16-team field for the 2010 College Basketball Invitational, CBI Tournament, has been announced. The third annual event will begin with eight Opening Round games on Tuesday, March 16, and Wednesday, March 17.

Cyrus and her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, surprised military families by inviting them to take part in filming a concert scene for Hannah Montana, the show starring the Cyrus father and daughter. Dozens of military families were invited to fill the studio audience during the March 12 taping of the Disney channel series.
Many of the children in the audience have parents deployed in the war. They will be provided with satellite communication
so that they have the opportunity to talk to ther parents.
Billy Ray added that this past December, he was in Afghanistan and the trip inspired the writers to do an episode thanking the troops.
There are only seven more episodes to tape for the final season of Hannah Montana, titled Hannah Montana Forever.
The season will begin airing in July.

2 Indian women on Forbes list of world's billionaires
Two Indian women including Savitri Jindal and Indu Jain have been named among the list of world’s top billionaires compiled by the US magazine Forbes.
Jindal with a net worth of $12.2 billion has been ranked 44th in the global list, while Bennett, Coleman & Co’s Chairperson Indu Jain at $2.8 billion comes at 354th rank.

The police in Milledgeville, Ga., who are investigating a 20-year-old woman’s claim that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her at a nightclub, said they expected to interview Roethlisberger and about eight other people in the next several days.
The police said they had not taken a DNA sample from him but probably would. Roethlisberger has not been charged, and his lawyer, Ed Garland, disputed the woman’s claim. “The facts show that there was no criminal activity; no sexual assault occurred,” Garland said in a statement. “Ben is completely innocent of any crime.”

A weekend admission by former Alaskan governor and U.S. vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin over her family’s use of the Canadian health care system while growing up in Alaska has critics of the outspoken hockey mom crying foul online.
“My first five years of life we spent in Skagway, Alaska, right there by Whitehorse,” Palin said during a speech in Calgary on Saturday. “Believe it or not — this was in the ‘60s — we used to hustle on over the border for health care that we would receive in Whitehorse. I remember my brother, he burned his ankle in some little kid accident thing and my parents had to put him on a train and rush him over to Whitehorse and I think, isn’t that kind of ironic now. Zooming over the border, getting health care from Canada."
It was little surprise that Sarah Palin’s first visit to Canada would be in Calgary. And there was little shock that she was able to curry favour with the local Albertan crowd by speaking at length and with much authority about the Alaska government’s process of securing TransCanada for the Alaska Pipeline Project.
But given Palin’s previous warnings about the ills of expanding government role in U.S. health care, American media and the general blogosphere were buzzing over the claim.
On the Daily Kos website, one post — entitled Sarah "The Death Panel Queen" Palin Went to Canada for Health Care — called the former Alaskan governor “opportunistic” and “hypocritical.”
“It’s good enough for her, but not for the rest of the American people who don’t have easy access to Canada and a system that isn’t based on wage discrimination?” the post made on the left-leaning political blog stated.
And Gawker.com also pointed out Palin’s comment, writing that her family put her brother on a train “and sent him to Canada for the socialism.”
Palin has previously claimed Canada should dismantle its public health care system and called the push by U.S. President Barack Obama to nationalize the American system “irresponsible,” suggesting the move would allow “death panels” to choose whether Americans would live or die.
The Yukon reference was the only time heath care was mentioned in Palin’s speech, or in her subsequent interview with Conservative Senator Pamela Wallin, who is still best known as a veteran TV journalist.
Wallin instead pressed Palin on why she wanted to be a political leader if she was warning members of the Tea Party Patriots — a disparate group of anti-tax, libertarian activists — not to take someone on as their leader because "a politician will disappoint."
Palin also spoke about how, as governor, she significantly hiked state taxes for oil companies, or, in her words, "readjusted the value" of extracting a resource that belong to Alaskans.

Wallin instead pressed Palin on why she wanted to be a political leader if she was warning members of the Tea Party Patriots — a disparate group of anti-tax, libertarian activists — not to take someone on as their leader because "a politician will disappoint."
Palin also spoke about how, as governor, she significantly hiked state taxes for oil companies, or, in her words, "readjusted the value" of extracting a resource that belong to Alaskans.
Several conservative Alberta politicians were in attendance at the Calgary event, including former premier Ralph Klein, federal cabinet minister Stockwell Day, Calgary MPs Rob Anders and Lee Richardson, and Wildrose Alliance leader Danielle Smith — who has drawn many comparisons to the former U.S. vice-presidential hopeful.

Ron Silver Cause of Death: Ron Silver had battled esophageal cancer for over two years before he finally succumbed to his illness on March 15, 2009. He was 62 years old.

Earthquake In Turkey - Death Toll Reaches 57
A powerful earthquake in eastern Turkey killed at least 57 people this morning after burying victims in their sleep.
Around 100 more were injured as the tremor, which measured 6.0 on the Richter scale, tore down mud-brick houses in remote villages in Elazig province.
Rescuers’ bid to dig survivors from the rubble was also hindered by 20 aftershocks, the strongest measuring 4.1.
The hardest-hit villages, near the town of Kovancilar, were Okcular, Yukari Kanatli and Kayali.
No other deaths have been reported outside of these settlements since the first tremor struck at 4.32am (2.32am in Britain).
The effect of the quake was particularly devastating as the epicentre was only three miles beneath the Earth's surface, the Istanbul-based Kandilli observatory said.
Also, the flimsy housing, which is the only option for many of the rural poor in the region, also helped raise the death toll.
Elazig governor Muammer Erol said: ‘Villages consisting mainly of mud-brick houses have been damaged, but we have minimal damage such as cracks in buildings made of cement or stone.’
In the worst-hit village of Okcular, a mountain settlement that is home to 900 people, some 30 houses were demolished, according to rescue team leader Yasar Cagribay.
Residents wailed as the bodies of 17 people killed by the tremor were pulled from the houses. At least four of the dead there were four young sisters.
